What is collected
No accounts, no analytics, no tracking.
kodeshway.org is a read-only teaching site. There are no accounts to create, no newsletter to sign up for, no donations to take; the one thing you can write and send from here is a question to Lumen, described below. No third-party analytics are used. No tracking pixels. The site sets no cookies of its own; the edge's bot protection may place one short-lived security cookie that tells people from scripts and does not identify you. A few choices are kept in your browser's own local storage: light, dark or following the sky, your accent colour, and your location if you choose to share it (below). For the length of a visit the browser also remembers that the Shabbat greeting has played, so it plays once. Clearing your browser data removes all of them. Nothing here fingerprints your device, apart from the check Turnstile makes on the Lumen page, described below. Nothing about visitors is ever sold.

Your location, only if you share it
Kept in your browser. Sent only in a calendar feed you choose.
The calendar, the moon page and the home page's next-Shabbat line can show sundown, sunrise, moonrise and moonset at your own place. That needs your location, and your browser asks before any page can have it: the calendar and the moon page ask when they open, and the “Use your location” buttons ask when you tap them. If you allow it, the coordinates are kept in this browser's local storage, so the other pages can use them without asking again, and every time is worked out right there in your browser.
They leave your device in one case only. If you subscribe to the calendar after sharing your location, the feed's address carries it, rounded to two decimals (about a kilometre), so that each day in your calendar begins at your own sundown. That address goes to the calendar app or service you add it to (Google Calendar, if you use that door) and to kodeshway.org each time the feed refreshes. The feed stores nothing; the edge's short-lived logs record the address like any other request (below). To stop it, remove the subscription; to forget the location here, clear this site's data in your browser.
If you decline, the pages still work: you see the Hebrew date and the day's count, without an exact local time. No place is His place; the site computes for wherever you are.
Edge logging
Short-lived server logs that cannot be turned off.
This site is served from a standard CDN edge. Like every responsible host, the edge keeps short-lived server logs of requests — IP address, user agent, timestamp, requested URL — for abuse prevention and DDoS mitigation. That logging happens at the network edge before any site code runs; it cannot be switched off.
No one reads them to follow a visitor; the host's dashboard shows only totals, such as requests per day. They are never linked to anything else and never exported. If your threat model requires zero IP exposure, use Tor or a trusted VPN; those choices are yours, and they work fine with this site.
Lumen on this site
A question goes out and an answer comes back. The conversation is not stored.
kodeshway.org/lumen answers questions about Scripture with no account and no sign-in. When a question is asked, three things leave the browser: the question, the last few turns of that same conversation so a follow-up makes sense (the page keeps them only in memory and they are gone when the page is), and a one-time verification token from Cloudflare Turnstile, which stands at the door so that people, not scripts, are asking. Turnstile runs invisibly; its handling of visitor data is set out in Cloudflare's Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
The question is passed to a third-party language-model provider to produce the answer. KodeshWay does not store the question or the conversation. The answer to an opening question, one asked with no earlier turns, is kept for a day under a one-way digest of the question, so that the next person who asks the same thing is answered without asking the model again; it carries nothing about who asked. Besides that, the service keeps, for each day, a count of requests and of tokens under a salted hash of the network address that changes every day, and a count of the requests it refused, by reason (not through the site's edge, wrong origin, failed verification, too many in an hour or a day, the day's budget spent, too long, off topic). The address itself is never written anywhere. These counts are deleted after thirty-five days. They exist to hold the daily spending limit and to stop abuse, and for nothing else.
The service is limited on purpose: a small number of questions per address per hour and per day, a cap on the length of a question, and a daily budget after which it stops answering until the next day. Lumen answers only from the KodeshWay Scriptures and only about Scripture; test every answer against the Word itself.
